Radiofrequency Facial Treatment

Radiofrequency Facial Treatment

Here I’ll provide a breakdown of what Radiofrequency (RF) facial treatment is and answer some common questions that clients often ask.

What is radiofrequency?

Radiofrequency is a technology that uses electromagnetic waves to induce heat on the targeted area to stimulate fibroblast cells and promoting the production of new collagen.

How long has the technology been around?

The technology has been around for several decades. It was first developed and used in medical applications in the early 20th century. RF energy was initially used for therapeutic purposes, such as treating tumours and cauterising tissues during surgical procedures. Over time, RF technology has evolved and found applications in various fields, including aesthetics and skincare.

What are the main benefits of a Radiofrequency Facial Treatment?

Skin tightening, wrinkle reduction & improved skin texture.

Best of all, unlike some of the surgical or incision aesthetic treatments, it’s non-invasive. i.e. no downtime, and without the risks and recovery associated with surgical procedures.

How long do the results last?

There are immediate and long term benefits to the treatment. In the short term, the treatment can result in lifted, sculpted and glowing skin, making it ideal to undergo the treatment 3 days prior to a red-carpet event for optimal preparation.

The benefits of RF facial treatments can be long lasting, as the stimulation of collagen production continues even after the treatment is completed. It is highly recommended for clients to undergo a series of 8 treatments, performed weekly. This series will give your skin a thorough workout, resulting in collagen remodelling, improved skin elasticity, firmness and a reduction in wrinkles and fine lines. Once the treatment program is completed, maintenance can be achieved through a shorter series every 3-6 months, or a maintenance treatment every 4 weeks.

Is it safe?

As with any aesthetic procedure, there are potential risks and side effects that should be considered. Common side effects may include temporary redness, mild swelling, or slight discomfort during or after the treatment. These side effects usually subside within a few hours to a few days.

It’s important to note that individual responses to RF treatments can vary, and some individual may experience more significant side effects. Factors such as skin type, sensitivity, and underlying medical conditions can influence the outcome and safety of the treatment. It’s crucial to choose a well trained professional who will assess your suitability for the treatment and provide appropriate aftercare instructions.

Is there downtime after the treatment?

The downtime after a RF treatment is typically minimal. Your skin will be slightly red after the treatment, but it will subside within the next 4 hours, at most 48 hours.

What sets Balwyn Retreat Sanctuary apart in terms of her unique delivery of the treatment?

While there are many radiofrequency devices available, some can be quite painful and cause sparking when applied to the skin. However, the radiofrequency device I use is completely painless, providing a comfortable experience for clients. Additionally, my device is equipped with a temperature monitoring sensor, allowing the aesthetician to accurately gauge the temperature of your skin during the treatment. This ensures both client safety and the ability to achieve the desired anti-aging benefits by reaching the optimal temperature.

Lastly, during the radiofrequency treatment, Kim applies her intuitive flair by combining the treatment with other modalities such as LED, massages, hot cold therapy or electroporation. She does this based on her knowledge and expertise to create the best possible treatment outcome for you.
